The events of the Russian Healthy Cities Association in April 2017
The XI All-Russian forum “Health of the nation is the basis of prosperity of Russia”
The XI All-Russian Forum “Health of the nation – the basis for Prosperity of Russia” was held in Moscow on April 19-21, 2017. The annual Forum is held by the public organization “League of the Health of the Nation” with the support of federal departments: the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the State Duma, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Education and many others.
For 10 years this platform became the largest interdepartmental event devoted to the issues of protection and promotion of health and the formation of healthy lifestyles of Russians. In 2017, the main theme of the Forum is “Interdepartmental strategy of the formation of healthy lifestyle of the population, prevention and control of non-communicable diseases”.
The delegation of the Russian Healthy Cities Association headed by Chairman of the Association, Governor of the Vologda Region Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in the Forum. Also Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in the opening All-Russian Forum.
The central event of the Forum was the Plenary session where Chairman of the Association, Governor of the Vologda region Oleg Kuvshinnikov shared the experience of the Association, spoke about the Strategy for socio-economic development until 2030 (Strategy is developed in the Vologda region) where a health-saving environment is formed on the basis of interdepartmental interaction .
“The activities of the Russian Healthy Cities Association are aimed at solving the tasks for preserving and strengthening the health of citizens. On this platform we evaluate and distribute the best municipal practices, organize training seminars with participation of Russian and international experts, develop new projects to improve the health and quality life of the population,” – said Oleg Kuvshinnikov.
The delegation of the Russian Healthy Cities Association took part in the international conference in Riga
The delegation of the Russian Healthy Cities Association headed by Chairman of the Association, Governor of the Vologda region Oleg Kuvshinnikov took part in the international conference “Health in all policies – from policy to practice for sustainable development and health” on 24 – 25 April 2017 in Riga. Riga cooperates actively with the Russian Association. This city has been a member of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network since 2013.
Conference participants discussed many issues: from the development of health tourism to projects for social integration.
The signing of the cooperation Memorandum of the participants of “The Initiative of Riga” project was an important event of the conference.
Chairman of the Russian Healthy Cities Association Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Chairman of the Riga City Council Nil Ushakov, Deputy Mayor of Kaunas Rasa Shnapshten and Chairman of the Goretsky district Council of Deputies Oksana Ogorodnikova (Gorki, Belarus) signed the corresponding document in Riga. The cooperation of the parties is aimed at developing tourist attractions, promoting the ideas of healthy lifestyles through active tourist routes in the territories of healthy cities of the Baltic region and the Russian Association.
The platform of “The Initiative of Riga” will enable the exchange of information on new technologies for the promotion of healthy lifestyles and the prevention of non-communicable diseases and the implementation of social projects.
The seminar with international participation “Healthy Cities Project: implementation, experience, perspectives”
The seminar with international participation “Healthy Cities Project: implementation, experience and perspectives” was held with the support of the country office of the WHO in the Republic of Belarus on 27 April, 2017 in the city of Minsk.
The delegation of the Russian Healthy Cities Association took an active part in the seminar. The delegation included: Executive Director of the Russian Healthy Cities Association Tatiana Shestakova, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Klin municipal district, Moscow region, coordinator of the Healthy Cities Project in the Klin municipal district, Moscow region Nelli Timofeeva, Chief Expert of the Department for the Execution of Powers of the Klin urban settlement of the Administration of the Klin municipal district, Moscow region, assistant of the coordinator of the Healthy Cities Project in the Klin municipal district, Moscow region Elena Chinkova.
Representatives of Russia shared their experience with Belarusian colleagues and Regional Focal Point of the WHO European Healthy Cities Network (Division of Policy and Governance for Health and Well-being) Monika Kosinska on the promotion of healthy lifestyles and prevention of non-communicable diseases, and discussion on promising areas of cooperation.
The action “Physical Activity for everyone!”
On World Health Day on 7 April, 2017 and during this month, mass sporting events were held in the cities of the Russian Healthy cities Association including the traditional overall city sports action “Physical Activity for everyone!”
“Physical Activity for everyone!” demonstrates the enthusiasm and activity of the cities of the Russian Association in the development of physical culture and sports. Physical Activity is the best way of preparing the body for the coming day, helps improve concentration of attention, improves mood and healthy thinking. It is also an effective way of struggle with depression.
The Action “Physical Activity for everyone!” of the cities-members of the Russian Association has its own characteristic features every year.
